Yancy’s Fancy Jalapeno & Peppadew Cheddar
All the way from the Big Apple, this aged cheddar is sure to be a summer crowd pleaser. Sharp, sweet and spicy, this cheddar is perfect for pretty much anything: mac and cheese, burgers and brats, cheese plates, grilled cheese… need we go on?
The unique addition of peppadews gives this cheese a special character. In case you were wondering what a peppadew is, here’s a brief history lesson:
Peppadew is the brand name of sweet piquanté peppers, grown in the Limpopo province of South Africa. Discovered in 1993 and introduced into the market a few years later, the name is derived from “Pepper” and “dew.” The peppers are small, red, and actually look like colorful little dew drops. The flavor is fairly sweet with a small hint of heat. Toss some jalapenos into the mix and you’ve got a sharp creamy cheddar with sweet heat that doesn’t miss a beat!
Rhyming aside, we chose this cheddar as June’s cheese of the month for its unique flavor profile and the quality of the cheese itself.
