Three-Part Cooking Series: Thai Cuisine

In this three-part cooking class Chef Alex will introduce you to the wonderful world of Thai cuisine. Recipes will be provided for all the food you prepare and taste. This three-part class will give you a well-rounded overview of the wonders of Thai cuisine.

 

CLASS ONE, November 8: “Mastering Thai Curries”

 

Chef Alex will give you an overview of the culinary history, techniques, art, and science involved in making authentic Thai cuisine. You will be making an authentic Thai Green Curry Paste from scratch and Thai Green Curry Chicken (Gaeng Khiao Wann Gai), the most popular Thai curry in the world! Chef Alex will explain the differences between some of the most popular Thai curry’s (red, yellow, Penang, and Massaman). Thai Basil Ice Cream will be served for dessert.

 

You will also learn:

Basic Asian knife skills

An overview of your Thai pantry

What tools, and how to use them in your Thai kitchen

How to get professional results in your home kitchen

How to make the perfect jasmine rice every time (served with your Thai Green Curry)

 

CLASS TWO, November 15: “Untangling Classic Thai Noodle Dishes”

 

Chef Alex will walk you through the techniques involved in making classic Thai noodle dishes! Like in Appetito & Sage Harvest’s Pad Thai Class, you will be hands-on making Pad See Ew with Beef (fried fat noodles with beef and broccoli tossed in and sweet and savory sauce). Expanding on our first class, Chef Alex will demo a curry base that he will use to make (Tom ka gai), a coconut soup that is beloved worldwide to enjoy along with your Pad See Ew. Mango or toasted coconut sticky rice will be served for dessert. The techniques you will learn in this class will open a world of wonderful Thai stir fry noodle dishes.

Expand your Thai pantry knowledge

Build on your Asian knife skills from Class One, with hands on Thai knife techniques

How to get your Thai noodle dishes to come out perfect every time in your home kitchen

 

CLASS THREE, November 29: “Thai Stir Fry Demystified”

 

Chef Alex will discuss the art, techniques, and history, of classic Thai stir fry. You will be preparing one of the most popular Thai stir fry dishes in the world, Thai Holy Basil Chicken (Pad Krapow Gai). You will be grilling your own Chicken Satay appetizer served with Thai peanut dipping sauce. Coconut custard with Thai cinnamon will be served for dessert.

 

You will also learn:

Advanced Thai stir fry sauce techniques, including making your own master sauce

How to prepare meats and proteins for Thai style stir fry

Honing your knife skills further by preparing the vegetables for your stir fry

Advanced wok techniques and adapting those to your home kitchen

Rounding out your Thai pantry with everything you will need to make Thai cuisine in your home
